Structural Frame

Complete! We started fabrication on 12-15-07 and completely finished the structural steel on 3-16-08. Here is the finished frame. Today we also got the water tied in...hopefully no leaks!

With the price of steel as it is now and the price of lumber diving. What kind of premium are you paying for all that steel for a residential structure?
I had a client want to do a similar project but it was way too cost prohibitive. Their plan may have been more cut up than your however.
Impressive structure. Looks more like a Target store going up and a two story 3 bedroom.

We are doing pretty good considering the budget. Email me privately if you want and I can discuss what we have paid for some materials up to this point. (gpeditmsc@yahoo.com) We were fortunate to find the majority of our structural steel in salvage and it was in great condition minus a few minor dings. New wide flange beams are running $50 CWT right now. We were able to get the salvage material for around $23 CWT. The most painful part has been writing the check for the foundation and the Light gauge steel. To be honest, we never even looked into framing with lumber. We did look at SIPS and ICF's but ultimately decided on steel because we could do it ourselves and save on labor costs.
